“To be inspired by nature without indulging in attitudes of naturalism is what competes with the pictorial research of Simona Ciari, who of that boundless territory explores rather than the forms the magical energy of the elements, and her themes are the sky, the sea, the sun, the sand, as if to say air water, fire and earth. Indeed, there is something alchemical even in the factuality of the works in which the artist experiments with the dialogue between different materials, combining pictorial color with plastic ingredients that allow her to intervene on the surface and elicit thicknesses and drips, incised grooves, granular streaks. With further expressive snap, transparent glass, colored stones, copper wires also interact, as if to scan the mobile and unpredictable trespass between elements. In fact, each of his scores seems to strive to make opposites co-participants in a single harmonic design, and as a natural reflection, the multiple composition of several parts, destined to communicate their combination of form and color in space, often recurs in the structuring of the work as well. And light and space, free from the rules of physical scientificity, appear to be the guiding numbers that accompany this fascinating journey, rich in figural and abstract suggestions. “Immeasurable vastnesses open up before Simona Ciari: the artist totally immerses herself in them, resorting to a phenomenal mix of acrylic materials discovered in the sphere of avant-garde construction technology, employed to achieve now plastic overhangs on pristine and sonorous sidereal depths. Now to structure tight rhythms in polymateric compositions of extraordinary spatial suggestion. Simona Ciari proposes perspectives that, while nourished by the clearest informal verve, fit within the framework of a rigorous spiritual quest, materializing her chromatic passions, like crescendoing musical chords, to express existential doubts and sentimental thunderbolts, amid contrasts of pure tones and comparisons between smoothness and roughness. In Eyes of Memory the past and the future materialize and merge in the immaculate vortex of a comet harbinger of vital energy: microorganic archaic presences animate its interior like a womb devoted to procreation, and here abstraction becomes the root of the organic perfection of a world yet to be built. And creation breaks down into the Primordial Elements ( air-water-earth-fire) still permeated with the initial breath but already structured into geometric forms and rhythmic or melodic movements, and then triumphs in marvelous and complex phenomena of nature to which it seems to allude Flower of Happiness where, according to radial directions, light and matter deflagrate as in a Big Bang of incalculable consequences. Mondriaan argued: it is precisely out of love for nature and reality that we avoid its natural appearance. Simona Ciari seeks another plastic expression, to reach the natural essence of life and succeeds by virtue of an expressive authenticity that makes her discover the most pristine places of being, which then coincide with those of universal spirituality.”
