PERFECT IMPERFECTION
The beauty of imperfection is at the heart of the aesthetic consciousness of the Anomisa brand, and it is a principle found in all production, both artistic and artisanal. Anomisa offers a small selection of 19th, 20th century furniture, revisited. The reinterpretation of them starts from a subjective analysis of their value, an analysis that leads to the appreciation of peculiar imperfections, and that leads to a superfetation between ancient and contemporary.
Sometimes the intervention consists of restoring the upholstery, while other times it is done by healing damaged parts, or by proposing novel and surprising color variants.
Such restored life makes these objects functional again and enhances the beauty of imperfection.
Thus, as with furniture accessories, the production of Anomisa bags sometimes stems from the study of existing types, reinterpreted and revised through the search for materials that do not necessarily belong to the world of leather goods. In addition to stockpiles of fabrics, leathers, and trimmings, bronze or brass artifacts become minutiae and decorations in the experimental process, which makes each bag a unique piece. In common they all, complements and accessories, have the choice of a design that already has a remarkable aesthetic consciousness.
Perfect imperfection is the soul and value of craftsmanship and handmade , making each piece meaningful and irreproducible.
the constant etching of time
The unfinished is an expression of work-in-progress, of continuous becoming, of the constant affecting of time.
Anomisa’s research aligns with the worldview characteristic of Japanese culture, known as wabi-sabi, which celebrates imperfection as the foundation of authentic beauty, a value born of the acceptance and appreciation of the imperfect and impermanent nature of all things. Wabi emphasizes the value of defects that are generated during the production processes, and that add uniqueness to the object. Sabi, on the other hand, is the beauty of the impermanence of all things, highlighted by wear and tear and visible repairs.
“[Il wabi-sabi] nurtures all that is authentic by accepting three simple truths :
Nothing lasts, nothing is finished, nothing is perfect.”
